WAST Privacy Notice
Women Asylum Seekers Together Manchester try to be clear and transparent in the work that we do and in our recording and use of your personal information (sometimes called personal data). We would like to collect and use your personal information so we can:
Maintain accurate membership lists
Contact you as necessary for the administration of organizations and participation in its activities
Keep accurate financial records
As a member of WAST we need to keep your name and your contact details. We will keep a paper version of your membership card with your name, address, telephone number, email, children’s dates of birth and details of your solicitor. This information will be kept in a locked draw and no information will be saved without your expressed consent.
In January each year any personal information no longer required will be safely destroyed. WAST members will be considered to have left the organisation if there has been no contact for two years and their membership records will be destroyed.
Any WAST worker or volunteer support worker will keep minimal case notes related to the woman she is supporting which will be confidential to her and destroyed each January when no longer required.
If you have ever given us a donation by cheque or by paying into our bank account then we need to keep a record of that transaction for up to seven years. If you give us your bank details (e.g. for a BACS transfer) then we will keep them on file initially. We will destroy the written record within two years but your details will remain at our bank.
We will update your details when you ask us to.
If you would like to know what information we hold about you, or make a complaint about how we have held your data, please contact the WAST trustees who are responsible for our compliance with data protection law.
