What we do

Proudly led by the women in our network

We share our experiences to empower and support one another.

WAST is proudly led by its members. We use a peer-support model to help women who seek sanctuary in Manchester. Through practical advice and wellbeing activities, we support women through the asylum system. We campaign locally and nationally with our sister organisations and allies to improve the system and ensure women’s rights are upheld.

Friday drop in

A weekly drop-in support group so women can join together, find out essential information and connect with others.

  • Workshops

We deliver workshops so women understand the asylum process and their rights. Offering advice on what to expect from a lawyer, reporting and what to do if you are detained.

  • Campaigning

We support women to develop and run their own campaigns. Providing workshops and peer support. As well as campaigning for women who are vulnerable to deportation.

  • Trauma support

We offer peer-to-peer support and help women to understanding trauma and the effect on emotions. Along with developing practical skills for how to look after yourself and others.

Our products

The women in our network use their skills to make products that share their cultures, heritage and talents.
